Meet Julianna

What is your background in Interior Design?

I graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Art in Interior Design. I have traveled throughout the United States and Europe personally recognizing design styles and using them in my designs. I love mixing styles together to create a unique, inviting and comfortable environment for each client. My design experience and passion for many period design styles including French Country, Rustic, Modern, Arts and Crafts, and Tudor has allowed me to fit right in with the Old World Classics building company. Prior to working at Old World Classics, I spent two years working with a high end residential designer in Hudson, Ohio.

What is your role at Old World Classics?

I work one on one with each client guiding them through the selections process, beginning with the exterior of the home (siding color, stone, brick, window color, etc.) and finishing with the interior (flooring, plumbing, paint colors, lighting, cabinetry and counter tops, etc.). I enjoy every minute I spend with the client, learning who they are and what they envision their home to look and feel like. The most rewarding thing about my job is the client’s excitement and enthusiasm about selecting the perfect flooring, a decorative light fixture, or a unique mirror that they absolutely love!

What advice do you give to clients during their selection process?

I have noticed that people tend to keep all of their faucet finishes and lighting finishes (chrome, oil rubbed bronze, antiqued gold, etc.) the same. I tell them not to be afraid of mixing finishes; it creates a beautiful, one of a kind look. I also think it’s okay to splurge on a unique light fixture or beautiful tile if it’s in the kitchen or an area that is frequented by the client and/or their guests. And one last piece of advice I give is use neutral colors in the more permanent selections, like the hardwood floor, tile, and cabinetry. And have fun with color on the walls, vibrant fabrics, or fabulous artwork!

What do you do for fun?

I love all forms of art from dance to painting to architecture, so any opportunity I have to see a performance, go to a museum, or even do a painting myself, I take! I really enjoy working out, being outdoors, and spending time with my friends and family. I have a dog named Jack who loves attention, walks, and catching Frisbees. Even though his age and size have slowed him down a bit, he still acts like a puppy!
