Meet Andrew
How
did you get involved in building new homes?
I grew up around the building
business. My grandpa, dad, and uncle were all home builders, so I think
its in my blood. But besides that I just love the variety in my job – I
get to spend part of my time out in the field on job sites, part of my
time in the office, and part of the time meeting with clients. It can
be a tough industry to be in because business is cyclical and
especially during this most recent downturn I myself was put through a
lot of challenges, but at the end of the day it is a very rewarding job.
What is your favorite part of
the job?
I love meeting with clients and
learning about their unique needs and style and then designing a home
specifically around them. I love to see them get excited about the
design process then it is even better when they see it come to reality.
What is your favorite home style?
I would have to say my style is
eclectic. I love to design the unexpected to mix modern elements with
rustic floors or antique light fixtures. I guess juxtaposition would be
the designer lingo for my style.
What are the latest trends for
new home design in 2012?
I can’t give away all my
secrets! In general I believe the tough economic times of the past few
years and the “bubble” in the real estate market has dramatically
changed our view of the home. It’s an over used term but the
“McMansion” is officially now a thing of the past. People are now
looking for high quality homes with smaller square feet and are energy
efficient to live in. We have our own unique take on putting all of
these elements together. In the Spring of 2012 our new model home will open and
will showcase what I think the new home of the future should be.
What is your take on Green
Building and Energy Efficiency?
You have to be careful with
those terms because although the concept to be Green and Energy
efficient is good, but sometimes these are just fancy marketing tactics. We
support Green Building and are an Energy Star partner. We have thoroughly
researched all the science behind green building and energy efficiency and we have
put together our own Signature Green Built system. Our Signature system offers you

How do you spend your free time?
Free Time? It’s hard to find
much these days, but when we do have free time my wife and I love
traveling and looking at historic architecture. And when we need to get
away for a long weekend – you will usually find us in New York City. That
city is truly the most inspiring place in the world!
Do you have a family?
I met my wife, Davene, in 2007 –She also worked in the building industry. We
knew pretty quickly that we were meant to be together and got married in the summer of 2009.
We have two bouncy daughters, Sydney and Hudson, which certainly keep us busy!
Sydney is 10 and LOVES American Girl Dolls and Hudson is our
little one year old that is always dancing.
